The regular events and attractions below are within walking distance of River Place.

Rosslyn Observation Deck – The View of DC is an indoor/outdoor deck on the top of CEB Tower at the Rosslyn Metro. Admission is free to Arlington County residents (with government issued identification) and their guests. Call or stop by for specifics. Enter by Rosslyn Metro elevators. (703) 435-5514.

Iwo Jima Memorial – The U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial is dedicated to all Marines who have given their lives in defense of the United States since 1775. The park grounds offer sweeping views of the Potomac and national monuments across the river. Go left on Lynn for 2 blocks.

Rosslyn Farmers Market – May through November. Local growers sell fresh produce Wednesdays 4 to 8 PM with live music entertainment at Central Place in front of Rosslyn Station.

Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival and Pub in the Park – A themed film festival comes to Gateway Park by Key Bridge each summer. Films play Fridays at dusk. Bring a blanket. Food trucks and a pop-up pub for those 21 and older.

U.S. Marine Corps Sunset Parade – Summer months. The Marine Band and Silent Drill Team perform every Tuesday evening at the Marine Corps Memorial, also known as the Iwo Jima Memorial. Walk south on Lynn Street 2 blocks. Free.

Bike Trails – Visit our transportation page for information on local bike trails. River Place North offers bicycle storage in the bike room and a guest bike rack by the loading dock.

Arlington Cemetery – See the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, visit the Eternal Flame at President Kennedy’s gravesite, and visit Arlington House, Arlington County’s namesake. Walk past Iwo Jima Memorial or take Metro 1 stop on Blue Line to Arlington Cemetery stop.

Key Bridge Boathouse – Rent kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddleboards (SUP) daily on the Potomac. 3500 K St. NW, Washington, DC. Cross the Key Bridge on the north (left) side and go down the steps to the street level below. (202) 337-9642.

Theodore Roosevelt Island Park – Stroll through the trails on this wooded island in the Potomac River and visit the memorial plaza in this urban sanctuary. Head right on Lynn 2 1/2 blocks and go right on the Mt. Vernon bike trail just before the Key Bridge. The Island is a short walk down the paved trail.

Weekly Park Run – A free timed 5K takes place Saturday mornings at 9 AM on Roosevelt Island. Follow the link to register for your first run and return as often as you like.

Rosslyn Jazz Festival – Held in mid-September each year in Gateway Park by the Key Bridge, the festival brings national and regional jazz and blues performances to town.

Marine Corps Marathon – The “People’s Marathon” takes place late in October each year. A huge finish festival is held on the streets of Rosslyn. Note that River Place is in the center of the finish festival and several roads are closed on Marathon Day. Please plan accordingly.
